Canon SD600 Digital Camera Review
The Canon SD600 Digital Camera (also
known as the Canon PowerShot) is a camera that has been bringing a lot of
positive reviews and with good reason. This camera produces superb pictures and
there are a host of features you won’t get tired of.
The
Canon SD600 Digital Camera weighs 4.9 ounces and measures 3.4 inches in
width, 0.9 inches in depth and 2.1 inches in height. It is not the lightest of
cameras but it could hardly be classed as bulky.
Best bits:
- As mentioned before, the 6.0
megapixels gives superb photo quality.
- The selectable ISO settings, which go up to 800, means
you can capture great photos in low lighting
- High ISO Auto setting allows the camera to automatically
set your exposure level if you are unsure of which settings are best in
different circumstances
- 3x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LCD
display to ensure you capture the images you really want
- The LCD screen has a high quality
resolution
- Fast Frame Rate Movie Mode for shooting high-quality
movies at up to 60 frames per second QVGA (320 x 240)
- The photos tend to show realistic skin tones
- The photo colors are rich and vibrant
- Only one lithium-ion battery is needed to power the
Canon SD600 Digital Camera.
- Includes a 16MB memory card
- Simple to use
- Includes a USB cable for connecting to a computer
- Includes red eye reduction capabilities

Here are some special features of the Canon SD600 Digital Camera
- Includes an A/V cable for television connection
- A 16:9 widescreen still image capture mode
- Five movie modes with sound
- Take about 2 pictures per second when in continuous
shooting mode
- Stitch-Assist panorama mode
- Because we are all different - customizable "My Camera"
settings
- Sound memo option for recording captions
- DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) and PictBridge
compatibility
- Spot, Center-Weighted, and Evaluative exposure metering
- White balance (color) adjustment with seven modes,
including a Custom setting

What could have been better
with the
Canon SD600 digital camera?
-
Canon
could have made it easier to access the special scene modes as currently
you’ll need to use the function key, then scroll down to the shooting modes
selection, move to the right until you reach "Kids & Pets," and then hit Menu
to find the options
- You can only access white balance and EV compensation
options in the manual mode
- You do need to purchase an additional memory card, the
camera is so good you’ll be sure to use up the 16MB in no time
- The LCD should be used because you can barely see
anything through the optical view finder. Because of constant LCD use the
battery would need to be recharged quite often
- Under harsh lighting the contrast is a little high and
this results in loss of highlight and shadow detail
Despite what appears to be drawbacks, the
Canon SD600 Digital Camera is a very effective device. It provides great
quality photos and the features that are less than perfect are all relative to
the user. What I think could have been better may be absolutely fine for you.
So before you pass it over, have a closer look at the
Canon SD600 Digital Camera. It just might be the perfect digital camera for
you.
