Where Can I Find a Cheap Apple iPod Mini?
by admin

The iPod Mini was intended to be a smaller alternative to the original iPod and it was released in two versions. Both models came in an aluminium case with a choice of colours. They measure 3.6 x 2 x 0.5 inches and weigh in at 3.6 ounces. Memory capacity is either 4GB or 6GB.

The iPod Mini from Apple has been superseded by the even smaller iPod Nano. It is a compact digital audio player which was originally released back in 2004. An updated version hit stores in February the following year but by September of 2005 the iPod Mini had been discontinued and replaced by the iPod Nano. Despite the fact it is a discontinued line you can still get your hands on a cheap Apple iPod Mini if you know where to look.

The iPod Mini has similar features to the rest of the iPod range. It can sync with iTunes and connects to a PC or Mac via FireWire or USB ports. In terms of audio formats it supports MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, AIFF and Apple Lossless. It also features a monochrome LCD display with a resolution of 138 x 110 pixels. The display is just for menu navigation and track information.

The first generation of the iPod Mini had a fairly big flaw – the battery life was just eight hours. Apple worked on improving it for the second generation and managed to increase the battery life from a single charge up to around eighteen hours.

The iPod Mini was small at the time of release and it was marketed as being smaller than a cell phone but by today’s standards it is far from the smallest digital audio player on the market. The reason for the size was the fact that it contained a very small hard drive; Apple used Hitachi and Seagate so called Microdrives. For the iPod Nano they switched to Flash memory and were able to significantly reduce the size of the device.

One of the great things about the iPod Mini being discontinued is the fact that they can now be bought for a very low price. If you want a cheap Apple iPod Mini then there are plenty of places you can find one. Apple were refurbishing old models and reselling them and you may want to keep an eye on the Apple store. Although the refurbished models are currently unavailable it is possible they will start to sell them off again.

The most obvious way to get your hands on a cheap Apple iPod Mini is to purchase one second hand. You can find various sellers through the Amazon website and they range from $50 for a second hand model up to around $200 for a brand new one.

The cheapest place to buy a used iPod Mini is probably Ebay although the amount you pay will depend on your luck when you bid on an item. Just make sure you get the second generation iPod Mini so that you have the extra battery life.

The first generation of iPod Mini was also only available with a 4GB hard drive whereas you can get a 6GB capacity model with the second generation. The device comes in a range of colours including silver, blue, green, pink and in the first generation only – gold.

If you are willing to buy used goods you can pick iPod Mini devices up for extremely low prices. It might be safer to pay a little more for a refurbished model which has been fully tested and there are still places where you can find them as new. It all depends on what your budget is.
