HTC phones are innovative and increasingly popular in the mobile phone market. The company HTC has been engaged in developing mobile phone devices for many years. Founded in 1997 they formed partnerships with Microsoft and a host of mobile phone operators. In the last couple of years they started to release their own branded products around the world and they have met with great success.
The HTC Corporation is based in Taiwan and used to be known as the High Tech Computer Corporation. The company lays claim to a number of device firsts including the first colour palm size PC in 1999, the first Microsoft powered Smart Phone in 2002, the first 2.8 inch colour TFT touch screen LCD display and the first intuitive touch screen to allow fingertip navigation in 2007.
HTC phones come in all shapes and sizes and with a staggering array of features. They are aiming to compete with diverse products with similar functionality like the iPhone and the Blackberry. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular HTC phones currently available on the market.
One of their most popular phones is the HTC Fuze Smartphone. This 3G enabled device features a full QWERTY keyboard which can slide out and a 2.8 inch touch screen at a resolution of 480 x 640 pixels. It supports 262K-colour and there are 3D animations on the touch screen functionality which makes navigation easy. It has Bluetooth and Wi-fi support and you can download video or audio files and surf the web at high speeds. There is also a 3.2 megapixel camera, support for video capture and voice dialling. It runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 which offers easy syncing with your PC for documents and communications. It is listed at around $500 but you can pick it up much more cheaply with service.
The TouchFLO 3D user interface for touch screen navigation is one of the features HTC are crowing about and it is designed for one handed operation. You can use simple gestures to navigate through your music, messages or browse the web at speed. This functionality comes with all their latest devices although reviews tend to point out that it doesn’t compare favourably with the iPhone touch navigation system.
There are other HTC phones with even better specs such as the HTC Touch HD. This phone features a bigger touch screen which is 3.8 inches wide and offers a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It is also slimmer and more stylish. The camera here is 5 megapixels. You can plug in standard headphones to listen to music, the operating system is Windows Mobile 6.1 and there is HSDPA, Wi-fi and GPS support.
The choice of HTC phones is astounding and the HTC Dream, also released as the T-Mobile G1 is their first offering to use the Google developed Android platform. It features a 3.2 inch touch screen at a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. It is a 3G handset with Bluetooth, Wi-fi and GPS functionality and there’s a microSD slot to increase the memory.
The HTC Corporation continues to develop new products and innovate in the field of mobile phones. New versions of their Diamond and Pro lines are due out soon and while they may be struggling to compete with the iPhone and Blackberry brands they are still shifting a lot of handsets. HTC phones look ready to conquer a larger market share in the coming months.
