It is generally known that the iPod is used for listening to music, watching videos and viewing pictures etc. But there are other cool things you can do with your iPod. There are iPod hidden features which are related to troubleshooting as well as features you can use to enhance your iPod experience. I am sure you make good use of your iPod, but….
Did you know you can…
1) Use Your iPod As A Hard Drive
When I purchased my laptop I did not have a CD/DVD copier on my old computer. The disk space I required to transfer my files was way too much for a floppy disk and I did not want to purchase a network cable nor learn how to use it. Instead I searched the Internet and found that I could use my iPod as a hard drive. Of all the iPod hidden features, to say I was thrilled is an understatement.
I was able to transfer, documents, music and video files, photos, shared software and so much more. Best of all it was so simple that to do it. To find on more about this iPod hidden feature, follow the link above to get started.
2) Run An Automatic Diagnostics
As rare as it may be, iPods do act strangely sometimes, so if you have a problem with your iPod run a diagnostic test to determine the problem. If you are brave and skilled enough you can then try to fix the problem yourself.
If you start you computer while your iPod is connected or disconnected without ejecting it from iTunes, this can cause your iPod to freeze. To solve this problem simply reboot the device by following the instructions in the reboot link and (if you can) avoid doing whatever you did to cause it to freeze initially.
If you are unfortunate enough to have you computer freeze up on you or even worse, your hard drive crashes and burns this could cause some headaches.
If your iTunes library has vanished in the process then this is even more devastating. Apple normally state that you can’t copy music from your iPod and I understand why. If you think about it this is an easy way to copy (steal) music. But when worst comes to worst and you want to transfer your music from your iPod to a new computer, use this iPod hidden feature to get you back up and running again.
You can change the name of your iPod or give it a name if you did not set one up when you first got your iPod. This is simple and easy to do also, just follow the instructions in the rename your iPod link.
6) Remove Scratches From Your iPod
Okay, so this tip is not actually on the list of iPod hidden features, but I just had to include it because I know I would love to restore my iPod to near new appearance and I’m sure it would be useful to you as well. I paid a tidy some for my video iPod so be sure I’m gonna milk every penny of play that I can and that means I will do anything to prolong the life and look of my iPod.
I have tried to include features for the most common problems you might face with iPods. If you have a problem or scenario that has not been mentioned, leave a comment and I will do my best to include it or find the answer for you.
