MP3 Player Comparison
by admin

Whether you purchase the latest Apple IPod or a basic player, you will want to do an MP3 player comparison. The MP3 player is the like having an entire stereo system from the 70’s on one hand-held device. And you can pay a 21st century price for an MP3 player that has the quality of a scratchy 70’s phonograph if you are not careful. Here are some things you should look for in reviews and comparisons online:

  • Size. Most MP3 players are small. In fact, the small size is one of the selling points for many of the newer models and a major component in MP3 player comparisons. Many athletes slip them into their pockets while they are working out. However, if you watch videos on your player, you want one with a decent sized screen. You will need to decide if you will give up screen quality to have slim-lined MP3 player that will fit into your pocket.
  • Screen quality. Some MP3 players have screens that are so small it is hard to enjoy one of your favorite shows or movies. And many people have complained about the screen quality in general—they often see lines or waves when watching. Many of the MP3 comparisons mention the screen quality.
  • Software. Some of the new Apple IPods have been panned in a player comparison because they require an I-Tunes upgrade. Not all music downloads work on all types of MP3 players. Before purchasing one, make sure your MP3 player is compatible with the online music service you use. If it is not compatible, you will be throwing away your money.
  • Sound. Not all stereo systems sounded the same and not all MP3 players have the same quality. A good MP3 comparison focuses on the sound, since this is the reason why you purchase one in the first place. If you download the music from a compatible computer and music service, the music should sound clear when played. If it doesn’t, then you got a bad deal with your MP3 player. Who wants to hear garbled music?
  • Price. In the declining economy, price often trumps quality. Many people are forgoing major purchases but those who do are looking for value. In many cases a higher price does not mean better quality. While some of the larger electronic companies have bigger advertising budgets, when reading a comparison it is obvious that some smaller companies have great products, often at half the price. Price varies for MP3 players with some as little as $20 at discount stores to those that costs several hundred dollars in major electronic stores. And remember, because something is more expensive it doesn’t mean it is better.

You can find comparisons and reviews on many websites if you Google the correct terms. Some of the most popular sites are http://www.cnet.com/1770-5_1-0.html?query=mp3+player&tag=srch and www.pcworld.com.

You should keep in mind that these comparisons and reviews are often the opinion of the writer. Sometimes you will read a comparison that is glowing only to go to another website and find the writer hated the MP3 player. However, you will find that the players that are truly good will have a glowing MP3 player comparison from most reviewers. Still, use caution when taking the word of an online reviewer that you have never met.
