Nancy Drew Walkthroughs – Solving the Mystery of Where to Find Them
by admin

Nancy Drew first appeared in the 1930’s and was the heroine in a series of mystery books aimed at children and teenagers. They were written by various authors and spawned a number of spin off series. There have been literally hundreds of books featuring Nancy Drew over the years and so perhaps it was inevitable that they would eventually be adapted as computer games.

The first Nancy Drew computer game was released for the PC in 1998 and since then a series has followed. The games were developed by a company called Her Interactive who specifically target the female gaming market. They have released twenty so far and eight of them use original book titles. The rest have been inspired by elements of Nancy Drew stories but given new names. Players take on the role of Nancy Drew and interview suspects, search for clues and solve puzzles on their way towards naming the guilty party. The game-play is relatively simple and the graphics are fairly basic but the games capture the spirit of the original mysteries and have proved to be very popular.

The Nancy Drew series is aimed at younger gamers and so sometimes the puzzles may prove a little difficult to solve. This is where Nancy Drew walkthroughs can help. Walkthroughs provide details on how to solve each puzzle in the game and beat the various challenges in order to complete each level. They are best used as reference guides and if you get really stuck peeking at the walkthrough solution can end your frustration and allow you to progress with the game.

On the website Just Adventure you will find a series of excellent Nancy Drew walkthroughs. You can either read them online or you can print them out as checklists and tick off the items as you complete them. These walkthroughs are well written and easy to follow and the online versions include pictures to
help you with the trickier puzzles.

Another great source for Nancy Drew walkthroughs is Game Boomers. They provide detailed walkthroughs which are easy to follow with pictures of the toughest puzzles and detailed instructions on how to solve them. For some of the games in the Nancy Drew series they even provide multiple walkthroughs so you can choose the one you prefer.

If you find it easier to follow a visual walkthrough then you can look for videos of game footage which show people playing through the game. You’ll find plenty of these on YouTube. They make it crystal clear what you have to do but the drawback is that you can’t have the game up at the same time as the video walkthrough unless you have two computers. One solution is to press Alt + Tab to flick between the game and your internet browser and this is handy for following written or video walkthroughs.

You can find basic text only Nancy Drew walkthroughs at GameFAQs but they are all in notepad format and they don’t have any visual element. Like most walkthroughs these are written by gamers and uploaded to the website.

Now we have examined each of the suspects in turn and solved the mystery of where to find Nancy Drew walkthroughs. The best of the bunch is definitely Game Boomers and they provide everything a budding young detective could need to crack the case.
