Exploring Zelda Walkthroughs
by admin

The Legend of Zelda was released in Japan back in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Developed internally by their star designer Shigeru Miyamoto the game spawned a series of titles and spin offs released on various consoles and handhelds. The fantasy storyline covers centuries and the player is generally cast in the role of Link, a boy hero armed with a bow and sword. There are various enemies to face down and worlds to explore and his aim is frequently to rescue the magical Princess Zelda.

The games are quite tough to define because they include elements of strategy, action and adventure with puzzles and a healthy dose of exploration. The universe that the Zelda games inhabit has grown huge and it mixes elements of mythology from various countries around the world with classic fantasy styling. If you are interested in learning more about the series then the Zelda Wiki is a good place to start.

If you are looking for Zelda walkthroughs then you are spoilt for choice. The series is so popular that each title is covered by the main game websites but there are also several impressive fan sites which provide terrific guides and detailed walkthroughs. One of the most comprehensive websites is the Zelda Dungeon.

This fantastic resource has a list of the games down the left hand side and includes guides, information on every aspect of the game and a mixture of text and video walkthroughs with multiple screenshots. The guides are extremely detailed and this website has enough content to keep you busy for several hours.

You will also find plenty of detailed guides and walkthroughs for each Zelda title on the popular video game website IGN. In addition to feature guides written by the editorial staff there are also multiple Zelda walkthroughs uploaded by amateur gamers. These are all text based and the quality varies.

The feature guides are easier to use for quick reference because they are divided into separate sections whereas the user submitted guides are generally long notepad documents and you have to scroll through them to find the information you want. If you like user submitted walkthroughs then you’ll find a load more at GameFAQs. Once again they are all in notepad format and feature text only.

Another great resource for all sorts of information is Zelda Forums. You can find Zelda walkthroughs here as well as guides and other related bits of content. You can also engage in discussion with fans in the lively forum or pose questions for experts to answer. The walkthroughs here are text based and written by amateurs.

If you prefer something written clearly step by step and containing the odd embedded video with footage from the game then Mahalo is the place for you. They don’t cover all of the Zelda games but the ones they have included are well researched, easy to follow and you can find other useful links via their game pages.

If you like video walkthroughs you can find some handy examples with audio commentary at another popular fan site, Zelda Universe. The website is a little awkward to navigate but there are some good quality video walkthroughs and plenty of additional information and news about the games.

One final fan site which merits a mention is Zelda Guide where you can find Zelda walkthroughs split into sections. They also include in depth information on various aspects of the game and you can pose questions in the forum if you prefer to get help that way.
